I am writing as a constituent to ask you to support an end to greyhound racing in NSW.

The Animal Justice Party’s Bring Back the Ban campaign has now reached 10,000 signatures.

That is 10,000 people calling on Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Parliament to shut down the NSW greyhound racing industry.

It is now ten years since the NSW greyhound racing ban was proposed and then overturned. At that time, the industry was given a second chance. The public was told the industry would be cleaned up, and GWIC was created as the watchdog.

But ten years later, the evidence shows this industry has failed its second chance.

Since the ban was overturned, Parliamentary Library research sourced from GWIC and GRNSW reports shows there have been at least 589 racing deaths, 23,240 injuries, 5,796 rule infringements — including for dog drugging and animal abuse — and more than $200 million in taxpayer funding.

NSW has also seen continuing live-baiting allegations, serious animal cruelty allegations, unresolved track safety failures, poor transparency and the distressing findings of the Drake Inquiry into Greyhound Racing NSW (2025).

How many more dogs need to die or be injured before the NSW Government accepts that this industry cannot be “cleaned up”?

As a NSW voter, I do not want greyhounds to keep suffering and dying for gambling profits. I do not want public money used to prop up this industry. And I do not want the Government to keep giving greyhound racing more chances while dogs continue to pay the price.
