With animal testing being shown to have up to a 94% failure rate compared to other - humane - scientific methods, including stem cell research and computer modelling, we need an inquiry into why this cruelty is allowed to continue.

This research is allowed total lack of transparency in an effort to avoid public scrutiny despite being paid for in part by tax-payer dollars. The NSW public deserves answers about why this hidden cruelty is sanctioned by our government.

It's time to take action. Tell your local MP to support an inquiry into why primate research is allowed to go ahead here in NSW.

The NSW public deserves answers: Why do we continue to experiment on primates? What are these animals forced to endure? Why are we not investing in successful humane alternatives? How much is this research costing the taxpayer? What risk does this research pose to our communities?

I'm writing with the request that you support an inquiry into animal experimentation in NSW with a focus toward the availability, effectiveness and funding for alternative research methods and technologies.

Following the escape of three baboons from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital last year, I - like many Australians - was horrified to learn that animal experimentation continues to occur right here on my doorstep. To find out that these animals are being bred for experimentation in Wallacia has been yet another blow.

With animal testing being shown to have up to a 94% failure rate compared to other humane scientific methods, including stem cell research and computer modelling, I would like to know why my taxpayer dollars are going toward funding animal experiments. I would also like to know how and why these experiments are being approved, as there seems to be very little transparency within this industry.

This is an issue of great public concern. Please support an inquiry into the use of primates in medical research, the NSW community deserves answers.
